Wisconsin is known for it's outdoors like hiking or cross country skiing on nature trails, fishing on the number of countless lakes or canoeing down the Wisconsin River through old river gorges. But you can also enjoy looking at cherry blossoms as well. One of the best kept secrets in Wisconsin is Door County. It is a small county located on the peninsula of the eastern most side of Wisconsin. Because of the less temperate climate there, cherries do very well and are grown there.
But unlike Japan, Cherry blossom season is mid May. Many Wisconsinites and people from neighboring states come to view the flowers. Door county is also known for its resort campgrounds and access to Lake Michigan. There are some many things to do here. If you ever have the chance to visit Wisconsin, I recommend stopping in Door County.
