Here is some information about my hometown. I am from Wausau, Wisconsin. I lived there for about 12 years before moving here. The city itself is split down the middle by the Wisconsin River and because of this there are many parks along the river throughout the city. Wausau is a smaller city compared to other cities in the state. There is a population of about 30,000 people here. Originally, the area was a large logging community with paper mills and they still exist, but to a much smaller extent. Nowadays, you can find many kinds on businesses and industries here.

For fun in the summer, you can enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, golf, hiking, camping and so on. During the warm months, there are often festivals/fairs held in the local parks. It's a great chance for everyone to get out and enjoy the festivities. Because of the many parks, people often just take walks along the river in the evening.

In the fall, many people take advantage of the cool breeze and hit the trails or hike to the top of Rib Mountain to see the leaves changing colors. It's a beautiful sight!

In the winter, some people enjoy skiing or snowboarding on Rib Mountain State Park which is located only 10 minutes away by car. Others can enjoy snowmobiling or snowshoeing on trails. Some people even go ice fishing. For people who don't enjoy the winter, they go bowling or play indoor beach volleyball. In late winter, like other cities, Wausau holds an event called the Polar Plunge, where people jump into icy cold water. All the money raised during this event goes to charity.

There are many places for you discover despite it being such a small city. Whatever the season, there is always something to do if you're in the Wausau area.
